It's silly really, but I didn't know how to even begin decorating my little one's nursery. I've been bouncing ideas around my head about nursery decor since I played with dolls and then much more intensely when I learned I was pregnant. But with the amount of ideas and google images there are out there, my brain went into overdrive! I liked a little of this, and a little of that, but I also wanted to make my own personalized stamp on the room. I wanted it to be special! I wanted this room to be my gift to my daughter, a place where my little girl can let her imagination reign free, dream sweet dreams and feel safe and secure. No small feat! Let me tell you! So, below are some suggestions and ideas on how to get started for the overwhelmed or the curious!
1. Get a bed set. Whether you are going to purchase a set or you're going to mix and match patterns, once you have that set you can set the tone for the rest of the room.
2. Set up the room. I'm not certain I believe in chi or whatever, but I do have a real sense of where I want my furniture to be in a room. Convenience is key and the layout should appease your sense of style.
3. Fill the empty space with statement. After your furniture is placed, you'll know what areas of the room need attention. If you have a big blank space above a dresser or on an empty wall, you have a few options! Letters, floating shelves, artwork... even an accent wall would work!
I hope this helps! I'll be posting more about how I walked through these specific steps with my daughter, Mackenzie's, new room. In the meantime, happy moments to you!
